Congratulations to West Bengal and its CM Mamata Banerjee on winning the “Best Tableaux Award” on Republic Day.
Unlike her “secular” friends now ruling Patna and Delhi who are more interested in media headlines than hardwork, Mamatadi has gone into a “governance cuckoon” ever since she withdrew support from UPA-2. She has steadfastly refused to make any statement on Modi despite provocations from media and CPM. Ever since her 2012 walkout from Sagarika Ghose’s show on IBN, she has eschewed her instinctive penchant for grabbing headlines, and projected the image of a mature CM devoted to her state and people who elected her.
A great example of the slow success of her government is how she won the hearts of the people of Darjeeling who have now turned against Gorkhaland Janmukti Morcha’s style of bandhs. After her recent trip to Darjeeling, even CPM had to concede that she has achieved something. So much so, GJM promised to shun bandhs, and support Trinamool candidate in Lok Sabha elections!
CNN IBN’s opinion poll discussion on West Bengal was instructive. A professor from Kolkata claims that in the last one year, the city has seen a silent transformation in terms of street lights, parks, and transportation.
Mamatadi, keep it up! The nation is with you as long as you are serving Bengal with hardwork and dedication. You indeed serve as a lesson to your counterparts across the country to mend their ways.
